Wherever you are, whenever you are, this article has been written for you—whoever you are; whether you are an economist, a person who’s interested in economy, or a person who’s reading about economy because there is nothing else to read about—this is for you. Not for the sake of the ”e-word” I have repeatedly conjured in the past few lines, no, it is for the sake of the word before that word— “a person” that is.
We all know that the world economy is in a crisis—a serious one as a matter of fact. Still all that I have heard thus far deals with the latter two concepts; “the economy” and “the crisis”, whereas “the world” is ignored almost by all.
But this is not what bothers me. To be honest I am not a humanitarian, or at least not too humanitarian. Screaming questions like why the economy has succumbed to this? And what is the solution? And does it prove the failure of a certain economical methodology and favors another?— they don’t bother me either. Why?— one may ask, and I will answer him; because nothing will change, those who possess will always possess regardless of their nationalities. Names do not matter, deeds do. You might be a seller, but even you know that in this world the majority buys and the minority sells—this is the truth before crisis, and stills in the core of the crisis, and will remain the truth after the crisis as well. Perhaps I am way too oblivious to the dangerous aspects of the current crisis, but this has its reason as well. Like numerous writers have stated in this site, here in Syria we have not felt the effect of this crisis due to the government economical policy; we have yet to enter the stock market, the currency is fixed...etc, in another meaning all is under control, well for now at least. Still, and this is also a fact, a dead man cannot die— let me explain why I’ve recited such quote; for instance, in a developing country such as my country we are always at an economical crisis; all prices are constantly going up, only your value as a citizen is going down. Concordantly, while the title of this article may be the most pertinent, one may or may not realize it is also the most irrelevant, as is the case with most of the world’s crisis.
I presume, many of you will think that I’m saying this because I’m from the majority which buys. Well, most of you are not that smart simply because it needs no Einstein to realize this. Now if I was a seller I’d pour in your ears a magical speech that degrades the level of seriousness abides in this calamity and when I finish I’d sincerely approach and offer you a loan that you will give back in some later time…when prices go further up.
